It's Me Style

Winter is here

Winter is here, no like Winter is here !If you’re a huge Game of Thrones (GOT) fan then you would’ve already caught on from the title of the post. For those of you that have no clue what I’m talking about, you need to do yourselves a favour and get onto the hype of this series. It’s brilliant! Story line, costume, setting and the acting, just all-round brilliance. I’d love to give you a synopsis of the series, but honestly where would I start. I’d probably end up dropping too many spoilers, so just ask that GOT fan on your FB timeline (trust me you have) to drop you a link of where they download the series or even better that colleague at work that has all the seasons on a memory stick.

Well enough about the Shandu home obsession! I’m currently doing cartwheels because it’s back to school, meaning back to being sane and having a routine. These holidays were LONG. Having kids at home on a full-time basis is no joke, I had my niece over for the last two weeks of the holidays also, so trust me when I say I have respect for parents. I legit didn’t exist for like two weeks, Kwando was so obsessed with Ono, copied everything she said, moved like her, acted like her, man you name it and he did it. He would  literally wake up and run to Ono for a hug, made my heart melt to be honest, but I was slightly jealous. Two weeks were enough for me to pity anyone who has more than one child, cause you spend quite a lot of time diffusing meaningless fights. But on the flip side these two weeks have made me ever so broody. When they get along, they get a long like a house on fire. I have so many pictures on my phone of them curled up under a blanket bonding and laughing. Kwando grew so much in these two weeks, cause Ono would speak to him like he understands everything. His vocabulary and sentence construction went up a notch or five.  I also saw the advantage of having more than one child: the ability to entertain themselves and the rise in independence. Also, it was so much easier to teach Kwando values such a sharing, taking turns ,saying thank you, etc.  because it wasn’t just in the form of theory like we’ve been doing it in the house. Although I wish we could’ve travelled for a week or so to some fancy destination, the kids still had fun and that’s what matters. They had playtime at restaurants, watched  50% off movies at Monte Casino ( special is till on),  YouTubed everything under the sun,  too many take out nights,  staying outside longer than usual,  going to bed way later than usual, sunset walks, staying in pj’s all day and watching the Smurfs live at Emperors Palace (ending this month).  Kids are really easy to please and very forgiving,  whilst you’re sitting there feeling guilty for not having properly planned a fun-filled holiday for them, in their minds nothing would have topped what you gave them.

It’s been a minute since I’ve blogged a style post. I bumped into a varsity friend a week or so ago at Mall of Africa and I was sharing with her how much I need a mentor. I need accountability, because I’m currently all over the place and I need someone to assist and teach me how to be better at the juggling act. I wear so many hats, and I often find that I’m wearing myself thin in so many areas just to make sure that things get done. As you know or should know by now, I’ve finally launched my clothing brand called This is BS (Busisiwe Shandu).  The first item went live last week on my Instagram and  I’ve had such a good response from the public which is such a pleasing feeling. So this new venture has my mind,  thoughts and heart at the moment, so I do apologize for the scarcity of posts. If you’d like to view the sweater, you can do so via Instagram. SOON you’ll be able to view items and shop on the website; notice the new shop tab! The sweater is R500 and comes in S?M?L if you’d like to order just drop a comment or contact me on 065 889 1325. It’s warm  and perfect for this transitional season we’re in.

About this look,it’s really a throw on- in a hurry -no need to iron- don’t have time to ponder type look. I got this ultra cosy knit jersey for a steal at one of my favourite brands – The Fix. I’ve committed to investing in my business, specifically the clothing brand, so I’ve limited my clothing spending by A LOT. So for the whole of Winter I’ve spent a total of R230, and this item is included in that amount. It’s the warmest knit I currently own, that goes easily with anything in my wardrobe. I opted for an oversized look so I bought two sizes up, this is a large.
