It's Me Style

BRING ON THE NIGHT

Hello guys! Typing this post on a very gloomy and cold Sunday afternoon. I knew there was a cold front coming through, but I really didn’t expect it to be 10 degrees and gas heater type cold. Hubby and I are snuggled under a blanket on the couch, he’s watching a new series whilst I’m working. Oh, if you were wondering where Kwands is, he’s currently taking a nap.

Back to the weekend. How was your weekend guys?! Well I had a really lovely weekend with friends and fam. Spent the day at a friend’s place this Saturday, had a really good catch up session. We had quite an in-depth discussion on how important it is to take time for introspection. In the fast pace times we’re living in, it’s so easy to forget this important life practice. We need to take time to study our lives ( relationships/ goals/ career / business/ friendships/ personal growth/ spiritual walk , etc. ). Sometimes we don’t even realize how much dead weight we’ve been carrying around, because we don’t take time to assess our lives anymore. Staying in your lane is easier said than done nowadays. We’ve become so competitive and allowed comparison to determine the direction of our lives and worse make life altering decisions on our behalf. I’m all about introspection, I truly believe I was not placed on this earth to compete with the next person. It’s so important to me that we all win, because we all have a part to play. I’ve learnt that there’s a lot that I can offer the world and there’s also a lot that I can never offer the world, ultimately because God has someone else in mind for that. The younger me failed to understand that, but thank God for His grace and even more His patience. I went around trying to become something that I’m not. Firstly, it’s such an uncomfortable life to live, because you aren’t being true to yourself. Trying to be something that you aren’t is not only exhausting, but costly. Secondly, you rob yourself of your own uniqueness. It’s such a wonderful feeling knowing that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I’m not like any other person in the whole world and there will never be anyone quite like me. Listen, I’m not blowing my own horn here, I’m trying to drive a point home. I am unique, and so are you. Take time to sit and assess the wonders of God’s gifts that are placed in you, you’ll be so surprised at how gifted and talented you are. You have so much to offer the world, people are dying and crying everyday waiting on you to recognize that. STOP focusing on what you don’t have and focus on all that God has already given you, because that is all you need. Trust me, He is such a mindful and thoughtful God that will never leave you hanging. He has already equipped you with all that you need, you are not short of ANYTHING; character , personality, beauty, education, and anything else you might be putting yourself down about. Can I get an AMEN, ha ha. Sermon finished, ha ha! I don’t mean to get all preachy on you, but I’m just so tired of seeing us not WIN in life, because we are so hard on ourselves, because we aren’t running our own race and even worse because we carrying dead weight ( serial cheater of a boyfriend, resentment, unforgiveness , fake friends, etc). Let’s take time to for introspection and finish strong in 2016!

The rest of the weekend, my husband had his friends over, so we all stayed up late just chatting. I love easy weekends, that don’t leave me feeling tired. Kwands is still recovering, he’s looking and feeling much better, which I’m thankful for. As mentioned in my last post, hubby and I will be celebrating three years this Thursday. I’ve been going down memory lane quite a bit this week, looking at honeymoon and wedding pics.  Marrying him is still the best decision I ever made, I’m blessed to the ultimate and I only have God to thank for that. My husband makes me really live up to the meaning of my name. I’ll probably do a very soppy post about him later on in the week.

About this outfit, I’ve been wanting to step up my style just a tad bit. Don’t get me wrong, the casual look is awesome, but I want to play around with clothing a little bit more. Dressing up will be more of thing from now, in my head I’m a just a normal version of  New York based fashion enthusiast, ha ha. I don’t quite have a name of sorts for the new look, but think street style images that you’ve seen at New York fashion week, that kind of sums up my new look. The small clutch bag is probably my favourite item from the look, because it belongs to my mom. I love sentimental pieces! This look is a very nice date night look, I almost wished I hadn’t blogged it, so that I could wear it this week, ha ha. The skirt I got for a steal during the Winter season sale, like I keep saying to you guys, SALE season is my favourite. You’ve seen this top before, but I hadn’t worn it like this. I loved the movement of the tassels ( truly creates a mood), the geometric shape print speaks to my personality ( slightly edgy), and not forgetting the sheer element, hello sexy! I don’t mind the sheer trend, but for me I will never go too far with it, because I’m respectful of my husband. He is a very easy guy and has no problems with what I wear, but I want him to know that I have boundaries in place.

Also, how amazing was the location?! Mikayla and I always seem to get that right, it’s like God always drops the right location in our hearts. I’m slightly obsessed with Mikayla at the moment, how sick are these pics?! Guys, if you need her for ANYTHING ( wedding/ bump/ kiddies party/ fashion/ business, etc.) please drop her an email at mikaylatom@gmail.com.  She’s really sweet and amazing to work with.

Please let me know what you think about the style change, I’d really appreciate that.

Have a blessed week!

xx
