SUMMER DAYS

HELLO…HI…. How have you guys been?! I had a super anniversary weekend and my heart is really, really full. Hubby and I had a few days of just bonding, loving, thanking God, reflection and just taking it easy in Joburg and Hartebees. We hadn’t been to Hartebees in nearly seven or eight years (on Valentines), so it was a really a nice throwback for us, that brought back such fond memories. Acute nostalgia! Just want to say a big thank you for the well wishes on all social media platforms, I really do appreciate you taking the time to write something to us and wish us well on our Covenant keeping love.

Now that I’m looking back on these images, I realized that I should’ve maybe got up and twirled in the dress ,to show off the beautiful flare and movement it creates. Clearly, I got a little too comfortable on the bench, probably because I hadn’t done a “sit down” type pose before. Not to worry though , because I’ll probably style this dress up again and do a shoot. It’s become a firm favourite of mine, mainly because my mom-in-love got it for me. The next time I wear it I’ll probably try pull off a high tea kind of look. I’m not really a dress type of girl, I normally wear dresses for weddings and the odd celebratory occasions. I’m most comfortable in pants and denims ( I’m sure you’ve noticed), truthfully because I don’t have to sit like a complete “lady”, I can relax on having to keep my legs closed at all times ( that sounds so wrong), but it’s the truth . My tomboy side has a tendency to make a lot of clothing decisions for me, but I’m slowly trying to quiet that side and dress up, that being in the more literal sense of the term. My mom in-love got me this dress a while back ( maybe a year ago), and it’s been sitting in my wardrobe waiting for a good Summer day / an event. Now that I blog, I thought I needed to pull it out and style an easy Summers day look.

STYLE TIP :If you’re looking to style up a Summer dress, just add a pair of platform wedges or even better, canvas/ straw pair of  espadrilles and don’t forget to add a bold neckpiece ( or accessories), a colourful and finish it off with a nice pair of oversized sunnies. I paired this with thee most comfortable pair of shoes I own. I swear each time I wear these, I always seem to get a lot of envious stares or complimented on how unique looking they are. I even had one lady ask me to bless her with these, ha ha. I not only love the fact that they are gladiator sandals, but the striking colour makes such a bold statement .

This look is a very simple day look that can definitely be transitioned into an evening look with the right accessories. I added the sleeveless denim jacket just to tone down the look a bit. Now that I think about it this is actually the only wrap dress I own. Wrap dresses are “normally” or most commonly worn by curvy women. The reason for that is because, it draws attention away from the curves and directs the focus to the waist line( the smallest part of the body). Because I’m naturally more slim figured and not at all curvy, I never thought this silhouette would suit me. I guess, this was also a learning curve (pun intended) for me, I’ve become a little more open-minded to trying different silhouettes.

Really excited about all the plans I have concerning the blog. I’ve got a meeting tomorrow with my photographer and videographer. I can’t wait to share, soon!

Have a lovely day

xx
