Hello lovelies! Trust you had a fab weekend. I had a very chilled one, spent it indoors with loved ones and close friends. My brother and his girlfriend came over on Saturday, had my niece and sister over as well. Just good feel chats, tons of laughter over some decadent Malva pudding . And on Sunday we spent the day with one of our close friend’s, who recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. I didn’t realize how ready I was to have another baby until I held him. The smell of a new-born baby, the teeny tiny fingers that curl up and those adorable facial expressions, oh my! In a nutshell, I’m broody as hell! This is the second time we’ve seen the little one in two weeks, I just can’t help myself, he is everything. My husband thinks I’m hilarious, in other words, to him my current state of mind is laughable.
Shanduville as it stands: Still dealing with major toddler tantrums, witnessing new milestones and now we’ve started potty training the little man. Seriously, big ups to every parent that’s had to go through this and even bigger ups ( if there was ever such a thing) to the parents that have done it more than once. On day one he pee’d on himself twice, guys you should’ve seen his face. A mixture of embarrassment and fear, I felt so bad for him. I felt like calling it quits after that, I won’t lie it’s quite tiring and the pile of laundry is something else. I haven’t even completed the first week, ha ha.
Below the knee a-line skirt, an item I never thought I’d ever own, let alone wear. Length is a major deal breaker for me, like for example I can’t wear short shorts, but neither would I do a maxi skirt. I know it’s weird, but that’s just how I am. I basically fall somewhere in between and most comfortable there. I’m not the most lady like girl you’ll ever meet, actually I’m not lady like at all. I lean way more on the tomboy side and I think that’s one of the reasons why I made this purchase. It’s good to get out of your comfort zone every now and then. I’ve always ruled out a-line silhouette, felt that it was never flattering for my figure. I was always of the mind that women that have wider hips look better in such a silhouette. Also, for me this skirt is ultra feminine, unlike anything I own, so that was a major push out of my comfort zone. As much as it’s important to feel comfortable in clothing, I also thought as a blogger it’s important for me to try new things. I totally fell in love with the detail on the skirt, I’ve always had a thing for pleats, but because they normally on a-line skirts I’d never owned anything with pleats, so I was rather chaffed. I’m all about character and the silky fabric adds just that, it creates movement and because of that this skirt can easily be worked into my Summer wardrobe. Blush pink adds a lovely touch for Winter, the pastel tone presents such a juxtaposition, going against the obvious dark, navy and military colours one would normally choose. This hat has become my go-to accessory. I was out for drinks in Greenside with a friend about a month back and this gentleman was selling these beautiful hats and I just had to have one. Luckily Joburg Winter hasn’t been that rough, so that’s why I chose to pair this look with socks instead of stockings.
