@Home Valentine’s Day Wishlist

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and this year my heart would appreciate any home decor item that could add character to our house. I used the word house purposefully, because it doesn’t quite feel like a home yet. I feel extremely detached to the look and feel of our house, it lacks character and ambience and has a very dark undertone because of all the black furniture. I would really love to walk into a home that’s bright, exciting and describes the type of couple we are.

I’m not sure if I mentioned it on the blog, but last year my husband and I purchased our first home. We moved in on the eve of his 30th birthday, which was the greatest gift he could’ve gotten. Unfortunately, we moved in with all our furniture from our two bedroom apartment which I must admit, I was really hoping not to do. I would’ve loved for us to have done a makeover and have moved in with fresh furniture that screams creative, charming and homely. This year one of our main goals is to do mini house renovations across all areas of the house.

I’ll definitely be doing a lot more blogging on home decor, since it’s a massive part of my life now. Hopefully I’ll be able to do before an after pics of style transformations and new pieces of furniture I’ll be adding. But for now a girl can dream……………….  “Oh make my wish come true, cause friends all I want for Valentine’s Day is all of the above”  That’s me singing the remix on the ” All I want for Christmas song” hope you got that! lol!

Decor Items Info

1. Chelsea 3 Seater Couch

What screams character louder than a Chesterfield couch?! We are in desperate need of a new couch, and this would be a perfect fit in our home. It’s a mix of sophistication and trendy which is definitely very me. The navy blue had me at hello, literally! I don’t know how many times I’ve walked into @ Home store just to touch this couch, somehow I feel that’s me affirming that it will be ours sooner than soon.

Available in two other colours

2. Cushion Blush Ombre

I’m super into pink of late, and I thought this specific blush hue would be a perfect feminine touch and a lovely contrast against the navy blue. With two males in the home, I know I might be pushing my luck, but this would definitely be my Pinterst goals.

3.Vase glass clear tulip

I’ve got a bamboo plant which I received from a friend last year. I’m an extremely sentimental person and this gift meant a lot to me, so I’ve been on the hunt for a standout vase. I’m currently very into juxtaposing unconventional proportions e.g. Having a single plant and not a bunch  of flowers in a very large cylinder. It creates a highly dramatic effect which is exactly the look I’m after.

4. Smeg 2 slice toaster

Kitchen appliances in bright and daring colours are a must, it adds life to a dull kitchen. The trick to kitchen decor is buying functional pieces that can also serve as decorative display items. This is especially great for those of you who struggle with storage space, but just don’t go overboard trying to display everything.

Comes in 7 other colours

5. Krisna Copper side table

Copper brings an element of warmth and instant elegance to your decor style. I’ve been looking for a side table that can double up as a decorative item and a functional one. I’m currently loving the layering trend of taking two side tables and configuring it as one. The current table I have for our lounge has a lovely aesthetic, but I feel it’s far too large for our space. Besides the industrial element that this table brings, I love that it can easily be shifted around the house from the lounge, to the dining room and even the outdoor area. I would definitely use it for putting display items such as a candles, books, diffuser oils, photo frames or mini pot-plants etc.

6. Barn Mirror

This mirror is so edgy and unique. It’s definitely inline with the type of aesthetic we would like moving forward which is a combination of industrial modern-contemporary feel. Our dining room is the first thing you lock eyes with as you come into our home and I think two of these mirrors would make a striking effect.

7. Embossed Stemmer glass clear

I’ve got a thing for vintage looking glasses, they give off an expensive look and add an interesting dynamic to a table setup. Truthfully, you can never have enough glasses and this saying is very true once you have a child that can reach for the stars. Glasses like this are perfect for hosting and entertaining, and these I would definitely keep far away from toddler hands.

8. Throw reversible mink

Can we just discuss this colour, so spot on with the ideas I currently have for our bedroom makeover. I can already see my legs curled around this throw, having cuddling moments with hubby. Our room is currently a toddler zone and I know if it were to undergo a mini makeover I wouldn’t be as lenient as I currently am with Kwando ( my son). Imagine this mink throw over crisp white linen with a ton of scattered cushions and pillows in varying colours and textures…………………….A girl can dream!

9. Framed abstract blue

Our lounge is currently BARE, it has zero character besides our pot plant that’s tucked away in the corner. I know the easiest and most inexpensive way to add character to a room would be to add frames, photographs and paintings. This will be our first mini project for our home this year, to create a massive photo gallery in our lounge and maybe one or two framed paintings in my home office.

10. Table lamp ceramic

Can you believe that my husband and I don’t have beside lamps, it’s probably one of the most annoying things about our bedroom space. Having to get up once you’re in bed to switch off the main light drives me insane. Besides the bargain aspect of these lamps ( set of two for the price of one), the contemporary style is exactly what we have in mind for our bedroom.
