Why are long weekends so short?! You blink and it’s back to the same old routine again. Nonetheless it was awesome, we managed to squeeze in a date night on Sunday evening at the new Mall of Africa.

Speaking of the Mall of Africa, I decided to go on the opening day. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!! I honestly have no words for what I experienced…. It was horrific! Too much traffic, congestion like I’ve never seen before. I was stuck in traffic for an hour on my way there, all I could see was a fleet of taxi’s maneuvering there way around cars that reeked of burning clutches. It gets worse though, oh boy does it get worse, it then took me 45 minutes to find parking, which I ended up having to fight for. This probably sounds so hilarious to you,but I was there first okay, and I was so exhausted from driving. This guy in a BMW decided to park right in front of the car that was coming out, I then moved forward to show him I was there first. He moved closer and then I decided to moved forward once more to show him I meant business. His friend in the passenger seat finally convinced him otherwise and he eventually drove off. The lady in the car, was kind enough to wait on us to finish off our “war”, because she was so adamant about me having her parking space. You have no idea how thankful I was, I was ready to kiss her feet I tell you. FINALLY in the mall…… After nearly close to two hours of going nowhere slowly. H&M was my first stop, because I thought they might have opening specials. Navigating yourself through hundreds of people must be the most tiring thing I’ve ever done. I get to H&M only to be told by the bouncer that they aren’t letting people in through that entrance way and that I needed to go up a level. By now my feet are talking, actually more like swearing at me. Keep in mind that I’m shopping with Kwando, which meant that I had a pram and a pram equals elevator. The elevator queue …. The elevator queue……. The elevator queue…… It made me want to break out into tongues, I’ve never seen anything like it. Kwando managed to charm all the ladies waiting with us. 35 minutes later and we were finally going up a level. By the time I got to H&M I was so finished and over the whole shopping experience. By now I had established how much I like things, because seriously what was I thinking?! Please don’t get me wrong I though of leaving, but traffic was just insane. I ended up buying nothing at H&M, can we just insert tears right here. The lines were sooooooo long it was ridiculous, but I found some winter goodies at other shops ( Thank God). In the short time I was there, their were two incidents, I assumed both had something to do with theft. I saw people running wild, a whole lot of commotion and a huge crowd gathered around some gentleman. Conclusion: I’m not shopping there anytime soon. Please learn from my experience and give the mall time. There is a positive, I have the best child in the world. He was so good the whole time we were out, didn’t let out a cry, wasn’t irritable or even bothered by the crowds of people.
