So Centurion weather has officially dipped to temperatures below what my mind can possibly fathom. I’m sure it’s 5 degrees as I’m typing this post. I will try not to complain about the cold, more especially after the Saturday I had.
This Saturday my heart was truly overwhelmed by the love God has for His people. The Young Wives Club( YWC) had their first official outreach in the community of Slovoville. We had been planning this for about a month now, at some point in the process I was ready to delete whatsapp, because I’ve never woken up to that many notifications before. Whatsapp group chats have the ability to make you re-think your life! I have never been on my phone as much as I was this past week, but thankfully it was all for a good cause. I’m truly so amazed at how many people helped us make the outreach the success it was, even my neighbours donated to the outreach. The ladies really dug deep within and asked everyone they possibly knew for any form of donations, we received money, toiletries, bags and bags of clothing. People gave, people still care and people still want to be a blessing unto others. I spent the whole of Friday evening and early hours of Saturday morning sorting clothing, smelling soup being prepared, and packing boxes and boxes of toiletries with the ladies, whilst being entertained by the individual characters that came alive after a glass or two of wine. Listen with these ladies there is never a dull moment!
Saturday was a very early morning for me, I left Kwando fast asleep, so thankful that my husband didn’t mind taking care of him. Man guys, as much as Saturday was beautiful, it was also very difficult, I just kept thinking how strong these people were. Poverty is still a very real thing, that community is in serious need of basics that we take for granted everyday. They need running water in their homes, flushing toilets that they don’t have to leave their houses to make use of, electricity, basic toiletries such as pads, a crèche’ that’s not falling apart ,that could crush a child at the blink of an eye. My heart broke at the sight of poverty that I witnessed, but simultaneously it smiled at the sight of warmth and joy that I saw. In life we truly have to practice gratitude and contentment, because the truth is somewhere out there, there really is someone who is praying for everything we take for granted. I can’t thank my fellow wives enough for over extending themselves this week, they showed so much heart and released compassion and kindness to those in need. I truly believe that I’ve found women that I can do life with, and that have become such a blessing in my life. We were able to meet the needs of about +- 55 women and children. They each went home with bags of clothing, bellies full of really delicious chicken soup and hotdogs for the kids, a box of toiletries and all, and I mean all the kids enjoyed getting their face painted. To God be the glory for all His provision and for touching the hearts of people, He made it all possible!
Now back to style, after all this post is all about that. I’ve beeeeen wanting to add my little munchkin to the blog for ages now, but I first had to try establish myself than slowly transition to kiddies style. I’m sure ‘Little People’ will be everyone’s new favourite tab, but I really don’t mind, cause I can’t resist him as well. And yes, he will be a permanent feature on the blog! I bought this jersey about a season ago in a bigger size, knowing that he would soon grow into it. I was drawn to it, because it had so much character. I’m all for a kid looking like a kid, but with a touch of swagger. The leggings, I mean who could ever resist that print! I love Cotton Kids, but I definitely don’t shop there as often as I would like to. I’m all for stylish clothing at affordable prices, so at times I feel that Cotton Kids is a bit pricey. I got burnt so bad the first three months of Kwando’s life, I ended up giving away clothing that he had never worn, because he outgrew everything so quickly. So I always keep that in mind when I shop for him. I’m currently struggling to find shoes that fit over my child’s chubby feet, ha ha. No like you don’t understand guys, I was ready to do cartwheels when these boots fit him. I’m obsessed with them, he’ll be wearing them all Winter long. My favourite thing about this look is the mix of prints with the character knit jersey, your child doesn’t have to be all matchy-matchy to look good. Don’t be afraid to mix it up, just make sure that you strike a balance with the colours. Also guys my child’s fro is everything!
Stay warm lovelies, have a blessed week further!
xx
